Biden intends to make his first presidential trip to the border between the United States and Mexico.

When he travels to Mexico next week, the president, Joe Biden, announced on Wednesday that he intends to stop at the border.

As he travels to Mexico City for the North American Leaders' Summit, Biden told reporters following a meeting in Kentucky that it is his "intention" to stop at the border.

Without revealing where on the border he will go, he said, "We're working out the logistics now.

Additionally, Biden told reporters that he would be giving a statement on Thursday about border security.

Biden stated on a visit to the border, "I'm simply going to observe what's going on.

Biden is visiting the border for the first time as president.

Biden has consistently come under fire from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for refusing to travel to the border despite increased migration at the ports of entry.

Republicans, who won the majority in the House in the midterm elections in November, have vowed to criticise the administration for its allegedly ineffective border policies.

It wasn't immediately apparent where Biden will travel along the nearly 2,000-mile border. However, El Paso, Texas, has recently been the heart of a humanitarian immigration crisis.

Each month, tens of thousands of migrants cross the border in El Paso, including more than 50,000 in each of the months of October and November.

Following the release of more than 10,000 migrants and asylum seekers by Border Patrol in a single week, El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser announced a state of emergency last month. Numerous people have reportedly camped out on city streets.

Many of the migrants that Border Patrol has freed are difficult to send back to Mexico or their home countries in accordance with Title 42.

Some members of Congress have already praised Biden for his decision to go to the border.

Some members of Congress have already praised Biden for his decision to go to the border.

I commend your travel to our southern border, the president was told in a tweet from Laredo Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar, who has been urging the administration to act more forcefully to control the border.

The senior Texas congressman from a border district, Cuellar, stated, "Our border communities are witnessing a crisis, the depth of which can only be understood by seeing it personally." "We appreciate you starting to handle this matter.

U.S. moves closer to delivering Ukraine armoured weapons

As France commits light tanks, President Biden reveals that Bradley fighting vehicles are being considered for supply to Kiev.

The United States and its allies are finally prepared to deploy a range of armoured fighting vehicles to Ukraine after months of defying Kyiv's requests for tanks to combat increasingly entrenched Russian forces along the extensive southern and eastern fronts.

President Biden responded in the positive when asked if the delivery of Bradley Fighting Vehicles to Ukraine was a possibility on Wednesday. Bradleys might be included in a package of weapons that will be released as early as this week, according to a senior administration official.

France announced earlier on Wednesday that it will give Ukraine an undefined number of light tanks.

Another significant step in the ongoing delivery of cutting-edge equipment to Ukrainian forces, including heavy artillery and long-range precision rocket launchers, is the first shipment of Western mobile armour. It happens only a few weeks after the Biden administration declared it would provide Kyiv a Patriot missile battery, the most advanced air defence weapon in the American arsenal, to fend off waves of Russian missile and drone attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure far from the front lines.

That front, which runs for hundreds of miles along a north-south axis in the country's eastern region, is where the Ukrainian military is engaged in a tough battle against Russian ground forces in an effort to make small but significant gains. According to American officials, the Ukrainians must be able to engage the enemy and advance while under fire with combined arms actions using armoured vehicles.

According to a second senior administration source, the United States believes that the fighting will continue along that line "for the foreseeable future," with little hope that it will abate during the winter. The allies are already moving hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers off the front lines for joint manoeuvre training in Europe, a change from training only small groups to use specialised weapons systems.

However, up until this point, Kyiv has been rejected by Ukraine's allies, who claim that the Western armour is ineffective due to its logistical complexity.

Germany has consistently refused Ukrainian demands for its Leopard 2 main battle tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, mostly on the grounds that it did not want to be the first to supply such weapons.

The West's reluctance to deploy modern weapons has mostly been due to a desire to avoid inciting Russia to intensify the conflict. The second administration source claimed that as the circumstances on the battlefield "developed," decisions to transfer weaponry like as HIMARS, the U.S. precision rocket launchers that were originally transferred last summer, were made.

Every step forward in arming Ukraine has, as was to be expected, been met with accusations from Russian President Vladimir Putin that NATO is waging war against his country. Administration officials argue that Moscow's violence, particularly its strikes on civilians, is to blame for the West's inclination toward progress.

Let's be really clear about this, the second official remarked fiercely. Mr. Putin is fighting "basically for [Russia's] security," despite what he may pretend, and everyone is aware that this is "a lot of BS." Russia is waging an aggressive campaign against Ukraine.

This official stated, "We are and will continue to give them with the kind of systems to defend themselves.

After making an urgent request for tanks during a brief visit to Washington late last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to send armoured combat vehicles just a few weeks later. Zelensky praised the French announcement as "a clear signal to all our other partners: There is no rational reason why Ukraine has not yet been supplied with Western-style tanks.... We must put an end to the Russian aggression this year exactly, and not postpone any of the defensive capabilities that can speed up the defeat of the terrorist state" in his nightly address to the Ukrainian people on Wednesday.

Modern Western tanks and armoured vehicles are just one of these crucial skills, according to Zelensky.

The first official, one of several who spoke on the condition of anonymity regarding the delicate subject, stated that the administration continues to rule out sending even larger Abrams battle tanks, which weigh 55 tonnes and rely on a turbine engine that guzzles gasoline at a severe rate. They also frequently break down and demand advanced maintenance skills.

As a result of the battle tanks' immense weight, then-President Trump was convinced against including them in the 2019 July Fourth celebration in Washington because to concerns that their steel-plate tracks might demolish the city's streets. The Bradleys flanked Trump for his Independence Day speech while the Abrams eventually remained in a "static exhibition" on rail cars close to Anacostia Park.

Although not strictly a tank, the Bradley would provide a substantial improvement for the ground troops of Ukraine. It has tank-like tracks, carries a three-person crew, and has space for up to six more soldiers inside. It weighs roughly 28 tonnes. Sending an undisclosed number of the vehicles to Ukraine would not reduce U.S. inventories, which number in the thousands.

The 120mm "primary gun" cannon mounted on an Abrams is more powerful than the Bradley, which is named after Gen. Omar Bradley, a top American commander during World War II. However, it is armed with a variety of armaments, including as a 25mm chain cannon and an M240 machine gun, as well as substantial armour. Fast enough to keep up with the Abrams in American combat forces, it can move up to 35 mph.

Following a phone chat between Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, France confirmed its intention to provide AMX-10 RC light tanks built in France. How many tanks would be shipped and when they would arrive were not immediately known.

The French military has used wheeled vehicles since 1981, but they are gradually being phased out in favour of a more modern technology. Although its 105mm cannon is smaller than many tanks' and is primarily employed for reconnaissance and troop transport, the vehicle is thought to be extremely agile and manoeuvrable.

Also on Wednesday, Poland agreed to pay $1.4 billion to replace more than 300 Soviet-era tanks and armoured personnel carriers that were supplied to Ukraine last summer with a second batch of American Abrams tanks.

Along with their current stock of Soviet-era vehicles, Ukrainian forces have also gained hundreds of captured or abandoned Russian tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and armoured personnel carriers. But it has been difficult to find both ammo and spare parts.

Police say an 8-person family, including 5 children, was found shot to death in their Utah home.

The home had been visited by police on Wednesday to check on the residents' wellbeing, according to the Enoch City, Utah, police department. The police claimed that they had no reason to think that any suspects were still at large.

According to local authorities, eight members of a rural Utah family—including five children—were found dead inside a home in Enoch City on Wednesday.

Nearly 250 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, in the agricultural city of around 8,000 people, police officers made the find while performing a "welfare check" at the residence. More information on the deceased or the circumstances of the shootings was withheld by local authorities for a time.

City officials issued a statement on Wednesday saying, "At this time, we do not feel there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large." They stated that the probe is still ongoing.

The city manager, Rob Dotson, stated that there was no indication of a motive and that it would probably take days or longer for investigators to draw any conclusions about what had happened inside the house.

In a video message provided to the media on Wednesday night, Mr. Dotson stated, "We don't know why this happened, and we're not going to assume."

He said that a welfare check is typically carried out when other neighbours express concerns or when neighbours are absent for an unusually long period of time, but he would not elaborate on the specifics of the call to authorities about the family.

There are those who are hurt because of this incident among friends, neighbours, and relatives.

Everyone knows one another in Enoch City, according to neighbours, who characterised it as a close-knit neighbourhood where properties rarely go up for sale, making the deaths all the more surprising. The neighbourhood where the victims were discovered by authorities is frequently populated by kids playing in yards and friendly neighbours who offer to shovel snow for one another.

After hearing of the incident, Richard Jensen, a local councilman, claimed to have cried intermittently throughout the night. So that his 11-year-old son wouldn't have to learn about what had happened in school, he summoned the strength to tell him about it.

In an interview, Mr. Jensen stated, "This was a respected community figure and church leader, and it is sending shock waves.

The five kids were all students at the Iron County School District in Cedar City, Utah, according to a statement on its website on Wednesday. According to school authorities, the loss would undoubtedly cause "emotions, anxieties, and questions for our whole school system, especially our youngsters."

A citizen of Enoch City named Aaron Diamond claimed to have a close relationship with the victims since they went to the same church. He stated that the family was "simply a fantastic, wonderful family" and revealed that the father had previously worked for an insurance company.

Mr. Diamond declared, "We're all just stunned and heartbroken." The locals are friendly with one another.

California declares a state of emergency after yet another enormous downpour.

Authorities in California declared a state of emergency on Wednesday as the West Coast braced for the third major downpour in a week, which threatened to bring intense wind, landslides, and more floods to cities around the state.

Days of continuous air rivers have pounded Northern and Central California, flooding rivers, bursting levees, and sopping the land. Atmospheric rivers are plumes of tropical moisture that deliver heavy rain and snow. Due to the soil's saturation from the rains, the state is particularly vulnerable to more downpours.

A flood warning was in effect for the majority of the area, and numerous settlements received evacuation orders. Authorities advised other locals to stay inside and avoid travelling on roads that can flood or turn into hazardous obstacle courses full of dead trees and power lines.

According to PowerOutage.us, approximately 100,000 Californians were without electricity as of Wednesday night, with the majority of the blackouts occurring in regions along the state's coast. Long-lasting blackouts are expected, officials warned, and the storm's effects might make repairs challenging.

Nancy Ward, California's recently hired director of emergency services, stated in a briefing that "we predict that this may be one of the most severe and damaging sequence of storms to touch down in California in the last five years."

It's anticipated that the storms will keep coming for at least another week.

After years of severe drought, rain clouds are now a welcome sight in California. But as the downpours mounted, locals and state officials appeared to say: We wanted rain, but not this.

Trees in dry environments have been severely harmed, leaving them more prone to falling down suddenly in the face of strong winds and pelting rain.

The California Department of Water Resources' director, Karla Nemeth, stated that "we're transitioning from an exceptional drought to an extreme flood." That indicates that many of our trees are under stress following three years of severe drought.

The "signature of this specific catastrophe," according to her, will be trees falling, which will bring down power lines and worsen water problems.

In the Bay Area, a storm on New Year's Eve locked drivers in their vehicles and flooded San Francisco's streets. As a result, flights were impacted, a neighbourhood was evacuated, and at least one person died as a result of the storm.

According to authorities, the 19-year-old woman who was killed was driving through standing water in the North Bay community of Fairfield when she collided with a utility pole and died as a result, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

15 residences in Richmond, about 30 miles to the southwest, were evacuated due to a landslide risk, according to Mayor Tom Butt. Without any other housing options, the relocated residents were lodged in a motel.

Sandbags were once again heaped against doors in San Francisco proper, which was still drying out from one of its wettest days ever on Saturday. Numerous flights were cancelled at the city's international airport.

Atmospheric rivers are drenching the West Coast. Describe them.

Coastal communities, Mendocino and Sonoma counties, particularly the regions close to the Russian and Navarro rivers, were particularly warned of dangerous storm conditions and serious flooding risks by officials elsewhere. These areas were expected to experience dramatic swells of the Russian and Navarro rivers.

Duncan Stewart, who has lived in the same trailer in the Mirabel Trail Park in Forestville, California for ten years, described the situation as "a nightmare." His belongings were packed into his ageing blue pickup. "I'm 73 years old, and I don't handle this well. In essence, everyone is only interested in themselves. Enough is enough,

On the Russian River, which is anticipated to surge to 39.7 feet by Sunday, is where the park is located.

The Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, in particular, is renowned for its wines. There are 15,000 acres of vineyards there. By Wednesday night, some of them were sopping wet from the pools of water and thick mud in the ground beneath the grapevines. A portion of River Road, a significant two-lane road running through the centre of Sonoma County, had also begun to flood. Soon after, Guerneville and some neighbouring towns experienced power outages due to blustery winds and falling trees.

Residents in San Mateo County, south of San Francisco, were still suffering the effects of earlier downpours, so authorities had already declared a local emergency. Approximately 100 individuals were transferred to motels after being evacuated from a mobile home park and a community of farmworker housing. Parks were shut down like other places, and many schools were shuttered. The county's utilities customers who were without electricity made up about 12% of the total.

Authorities around the state were also paying close attention to areas that had recently burnt since the charred earth there could quickly turn into catastrophic debris flows and cause one disaster to lead to another. The burn scars left by the 2020 August Complex fire, the Caldor and Dixie fires, and the Mosquito Fire from the previous year are where this one-two punch is most likely to occur, according to the National Weather Service.

Even in Southern California, where less rain was anticipated, but where fire zones in the counties of Los Angeles and Santa Barbara prompted evacuations, there was danger.

According to Nemeth of the state's water resources department, it doesn't take much precipitation during a series of storms to cause considerable damage. However, she expressed confidence that California's extensive network of levees and reservoirs, which is part of state and federal flood management infrastructure, will stand up.

We think we have ample ability to absorb the precipitation from these impending storms, she said.

The deluge has offered much-needed respite to parched land for the agriculture sector, the largest in the nation and the state's economic engine, but it also has its own disadvantages. According to Evan Wiig of the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, an organisation that supports small farmers, if the ground hasn't been well managed, valuable topsoil could wash away during the storms.

Since our reservoirs have already risen, Wiig said, "We're definitely in severe need of precipitation here, and in the larger scheme of things, sure, it's a good thing for California agriculture more generally." We only wish that it hadn't had to arrive all at once.

It was anticipated that the wind and rain would last through Wednesday night and into Thursday. Friday should see some relief from the storm, according to forecasters, although it will probably only last a short while. On the horizon are at least three additional atmospheric rivers.

Resilience is the key word to spread, according to a Wednesday bulletin from the National Weather Service office for the San Francisco Bay area. This storm is not "one and done."

Stewart and his neighbours in Forestville anticipated leaving their small riverside town for two weeks while the storms moved across the area.

A suspect in four murders from Idaho enters the state after declining extradition from Pennsylvania

After declining extradition from his native Pennsylvania, Bryan Kohberger, who is suspected of murdering four University of Idaho students in November, has returned to Idaho to face murder charges.

He was led by law officers on Wednesday night to the Latah County Jail.

An internet flight tracker revealed that the Pennsylvania state police plane thought to be transporting Kohberger had arrived at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport, which is located just across the border in Washington state, a few moments earlier. At the airport, a CNN crew spotted Idaho police enforcement vehicles there.

According to Garry Haidle, the jail warden, Kohberger was turned over to Pennsylvania State Police officers from the Monroe County Correctional Facility. In accordance with its policy, State Police declined to comment on any prisoner transit.

Almost seven weeks after Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were discovered dead stabbed on November 13 at a Moscow, Idaho, off-campus home, Kohberger was taken into custody in Pennsylvania on Friday.

Important case information, such if the suspect knew the victims and what his or her possible motivation was, has not yet been made public by the authorities.

According to two law enforcement sources briefed on the case, investigators narrowed down on Kohberger as a suspect after tracking ownership of a white Hyundai Elantra that had been seen in the vicinity of the deaths to him.

Additionally, according to the reports, his DNA was matched to genetic material found at the house where the students were killed.

The suspect recently completed his first semester of study for a PhD in criminal justice at the Pullman campus of Washington State University, which is located about 15 minutes west of Moscow.

He travelled with his father back to Pennsylvania for the holidays, according to Jason LaBar, the chief public defender for Monroe County. A little after December 17, the father and son arrived.

Kohberger's parents' home is where the white Elantra that officials were seeking for in relation to the killings was discovered, according to LaBar.

Before his arrest, an FBI surveillance team followed Kohberger for four days as law enforcement and prosecutors attempted to establish enough probable cause to obtain a warrant, according to the two law enforcement sources.

Until the suspect appears in an Idaho court, the probable-cause affidavit, which would include details to support the defendant's arrest, is kept under seal.

The prosecution and defence are not allowed to talk beyond what is in the public record due to a court order.

McCarthy of the GOP has been repeatedly rejected as House speaker.

Washington, D.C. The House Republicans struggled through a protracted second day of pointless voting on Wednesday, failing to elect their leader Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House or devise a fresh plan to put an end to the political stalemate that has marred the beginning of their new rule.

Even when the fourth, fifth, and sixth votes didn't generate a better result and he was left seeking to cancel a nighttime session, McCarthy wasn't giving up. Even that generated a heated debate, and the House ultimately decided to adjourn for the evening by a vote of 216-214.

McCarthy had just concluded a lengthy closed-door dinnertime discussion with important holdouts and his own loyalists when he declared, "No deal yet." "But a great deal of progress."

Republicans attempted to raise McCarthy to the top position, but there was almost no movement visible throughout the day of vote after vote. Twenty conservative holdouts continued to vote against him on each ballots, leaving him far short of the 218 votes generally required to take the gavel.

McCarthy's support actually decreased to 201 as one fellow Republican flipped to a present-only vote.

Republicans hastily decided late in the day to adjourn for a few hours as they desperately sought a solution to the mess of their own creating after realising there was no quick way out of the political impasse. McCarthy wanted to take a vacation until Thursday even though they were expected back in the evening.

McCarthy remarked, "I think individuals need to work a little harder. A vote tonight wouldn't change anything, in my opinion. However, a vote in the future might.

McCarthy, a Republican from California, determined to pursue the speakership to the bitter end despite the torturous spectacle that rocked the new majority during the first few days of the new Congress and was unlike anything seen in modern times. On the floor of the Senate and in private meetings all throughout the Capitol, heated debates between McCarthy's allies and adversaries broke out.

Rep. Kat Cammack, a Republican from Florida, nominated McCarthy on the sixth ballot, saying, "Well, it's Groundhog Day."

To all Americans who are watching right now, We hear you, she declared. And no matter how dirty this is, we will get through it.

Although Donald Trump openly backed McCarthy, the right-flank conservatives, led by the Freedom Caucus and allied with him, appeared encouraged by the impasse.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who was nominated three times by his conservative colleagues as an alternative, declared that "this is actually an energising day for America." Many of the lawmakers in the room want to have serious discussions about how to end the debate and choose a speaker.

Before the speaker was chosen, no further activity could be done, including swearing in new House members, creating committees, working on legislation, or looking into the Biden administration.

The dynamic continued to be the same as on Day One as Democrats re-endorsed Rep. Hakeem Jeffries for speaker and Donalds issued his challenge to McCarthy in another momentous historical development. Jeffries and Donalds are both Black people.

Rep. Chip Roy, a Texas Republican who noted that two African Americans were nominated for the highest office for the first time in history, declared that "this country needs leadership." Both partisan lawmakers stood to applause.

No candidate for House speaker was able to assume the gavel after the first vote for the first time in 100 years.

With Republicans now in control of the House, the disorganised start to the new Congress hinted at difficulties ahead, much like how some previous Republican speakers, including John Boehner, struggled to lead a rebellious right flank and ended up with government shutdowns, standoffs, and early retirement.

While leaving the White House with Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell for a bipartisan event in Kentucky, Democratic President Joe Biden declared that "the rest of the world is staring" at the situation on the House floor.

Biden remarked, "I simply think it's extremely embarrassing that it's taking so long. “I have no idea” who will prevail.

Germany has its highest level of inflation in more than seven decades.

Germany's yearly inflation rate for food and energy prices increased to 7.9%.

New information released by the Federal Statistical Office on Tuesday indicates that inflation in Germany is at its highest level in more than seven decades.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, prices for food and energy soared to 7.9% for 2022. According to the Associated Press, yearly inflation last year was 3.1%, compared to 7.6% in 1951.

Inflation peaked in October with a rise of 10.4%, and again in November with a rise of 10%. The numbers do show that after the German government started paying household energy bills in December, inflation did start to decline to 8.6%.

According to the statistical office, the price of energy was up 24.4% in December compared to the same month last year, while the price of food was up 20.7%.

Germany's inflation has recently increased, and unions have recently called for salary hikes to counteract the rising cost of consumer goods. In addition, unemployment grew by 5.4% for the final month of the year.

China is the target of EU Foreign Subsidy Limits, but US Companies Are Also Hit

Germany's unemployment rate for the year was 2.42 million, which is less than it was during the same time last year.

Because Ukraine is one of the major exporters of wheat in the world, the war in that country has severely disrupted food prices in addition to gas supply lines into Europe.

Israel's right-wing Visits to Flashpoint by Ben Gvir Holy site in Jerusalem as Palestinians condemn "provocation"

Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel's far-right national security minister, visited the Jerusalem complex known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif or the Noble Sanctuary on Tuesday, which attracted criticism from throughout the world.

Videos depicting Ben Gvir strolling through the complex while being encircled by Israeli police were published in Israeli media.

The flashpoint complex, which is the third-holiest location in Islam and the holiest site in Judaism, is the source of many tensions. The Al-Aqsa Mosque and the locations of the first and second Jewish Temples that were demolished are located there. According to a long-standing agreement, only Muslims are permitted to pray at the compound; Ben Gvir thinks Jews ought to be able to do the same.

Palestinians protested the visit right away.

In a statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said, "We strongly condemn fanatic Ben Gvir's storming of the hallowed Al-Aqsa Mosque and we consider it an unprecedented provocation and a severe threat." We blame (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu for the conflict's and the region's repercussions.

Tuesday, Ben Gvir entered the grounds but not the Al-Aqsa Mosque structure. The lawmaker's visit was his first since he took office as the nation's security minister last week, in what is expected to be Israel's most right-wing administration ever. It is led by Netanyahu, who has returned for his sixth term as prime minister at the head of a coalition that includes several extremist parties.

The far-right Jewish Power (Otzma Yehudit) party's head, Ben Gvir, had previously been found guilty of aiding terrorism and inciting anti-Arab hatred. He is in charge of the Israeli police as well as some police operations in the occupied West Bank in his capacity as minister of national security.

The Palestinian militant organisation Hamas, which controls Gaza, has warned that Ben Gvir's visit will "throw fuel on fire" and be a "precursor for the ignition of the region."

Ben Gvir replied to the tweet with, "The Israeli government of which I am a member will not capitulate to a horrible killing group. "The Temple Mount is accessible to anyone, and if Hamas believes that threatening me will stop me, let them know that circumstances have changed. Jerusalem has a government, indeed!

Only Muslims are permitted to pray inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, and non-Muslims are only permitted to enter the complex at specific hours, according to the so-called status quo agreement that dates back to the Ottoman occupation of Jerusalem. After Israel took control of these sacred sites in the 1967 war, other nations and Israel agreed to keep access to them as-is.

Jewish prayer space on the Temple Mount has been demanded by some religiously nationalist Jewish organisations. There have been multiple incidents of Jewish guests praying on the property, which has angered Muslim authorities and resulted in Israeli police forcibly removing them.

Violence between Israel and the Palestinians has often been preceded by visits from Israeli political figures. The Second Intifada, a Palestinian revolt against Israel that lasted for years, began in September 2000 as a result of Ariel Sharon, the conservative leader of the Israeli opposition.

"People will perish."

Netanyahu was slammed for the visit by former Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who dubbed him "weak" for committing the "most reckless man in the Middle East to the most volatile region in the Middle East."

It's time for Netanyahu to tell Ben Gvir, "You don't go up to the Temple Mount because people will die," according to Lapid, who labelled the visit a "provocation that will lead to violence that would jeopardise human life and cost human lives."

The Gulf country has been striving to balance its recently created friendship with Israel with its ongoing backing for the Palestinians. The nation has previously condemned incidents, particularly those that heighten tensions surrounding Jerusalem's sacred sites.

The foreign ministry of Egypt urged "all parties to exhibit restraint and responsibility and desist from any acts that might inflame the situation" and warned of the detrimental effects such actions would have on security and stability.

Jordan slammed Ben Gvir's visit, calling it "a flagrant and unforgivable violation of international law, of the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities," and denounced it in the "strongest" terms possible.

Since 1924, Jordan's monarchy has been in charge of the holy sites in Jerusalem and regards itself as the city's guarantor of the religious freedoms of both Muslims and Christians.

In a separate statement, the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation held Israel accountable for the effects of its "aggression" against Palestinians.

Ambassador (Tom) Nides has been quite clear in discussions with the Israeli government on the topic of maintaining the status quo in Jerusalem's holy sites, according to a US embassy spokesperson. Anything done to stop that is unacceptable.

In a Facebook post, the British consulate in Jerusalem expressed its "alarm" at Ben Gvir's visit and stated that it "remains committed to the status quo."

A tweet mentioning the website German ambassador to Israel Steffen Seibert issued a warning against "activities that could exacerbate tensions" on Tuesday night.

The head of the Hezbollah terrorist organisation in Lebanon, which is supported by Iran, warned that the visit "may ignite the entire region" in addition to causing trouble in the Palestinian territories. Hassan Nasrallah said that Hezbollah doesn't fear Israel's new right-wing administration in a speech that was broadcast on television on Tuesday. It's made up of freaks and nuts, he declared.

Netanyahu claimed on Tuesday that his administration was not attempting to alter the site's guidelines. According to a statement from his office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is committed to firmly maintaining the status quo, without alterations, on the Temple Mount."

Hamas won't be allowed to rule us. Ministers have visited the Temple Mount recently under the status quo, including Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, therefore the assertion that the status quo has changed is unfounded.

Pope Benedict's final remarks, as recorded by his carer at his bedside

In St. Peter's Basilica, the body of late Pope Benedict XVI is on display for public adoration and sadness.

According to Vatican insiders, Pope Benedict XVI, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 95, was conscious right up until the end of his life.

The nurse who was attending to the deceased pope at around three in the morning on December 31 recorded his final words. He needed continual attention at the moment, but he wasn't yet confused.

Pope Benedict XVI has away at age 95, the Vatican announced.

Vatican News was informed by Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Benedict's personal secretary, "[Benedict] uttered in Italian, "Lord, I love you," in a voice that was hardly audible but was nevertheless audible. Although I wasn't there at the time, the nurse informed me about it shortly after."

These were his final understandable words, he said, for he was subsequently unable to communicate.

Through his teachings, POPE BENEDICT'S VISION FOR CATHOLICISM, VATICAN II, AND THE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH endures.

In a 9:34 a.m. announcement, the Vatican noted that Benedict had died away. At 95 years old, he was.

The late pope's body is currently being kept in Vatican City's Mater Ecclesiae Monastery, where he spent the most of his life after becoming pope.

Italian authorities expected 30,000 visitors on the first day that Pope Emeritus Benedict's body would be on display. St. Peter's Basilica saw 65,000 visitors by the conclusion of the evening.

The body was taken to its final resting place in front of the main altar by ten Papal Gentlemen, the Pope's lay aides, as the day began.

As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's body lies in state at the Vatican, crowds gather.

Prayers were said and Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, the basilica's archpriest, splashed holy water over the body before the entire public was let inside. Benedict had his hands together and a rosary wrapped around his fingers.

The Vatican confirmed the burial arrangements on Monday. In accordance with his desires, Benedict will be buried in the grotto beneath the basilica where St. John Paul II's body was previously interred until it was taken there for his 2011 beatification, according to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis will officiate at the late pope's funeral mass in St. Peter's Square on January 5.

Two helicopters collided on Australia's Gold Coast, leaving four people dead and dozens others hurt.

Three others are in serious condition after a midair crash between two helicopters in Australia that left four persons dead.

On the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane, close to the well-known tourist area of Main Beach, the crash took place around 2:00 p.m. local time.

Regional duty officer for the southeast Queensland Police Inspector Gary Worrell informed reporters that "the two aircraft, when colliding, had crash landed on the sand bank just out from Sea World Resort."

He noted that despite being close to the seaside, it had been challenging for rescue services to reach the sand bank.

According to Queensland Ambulance Service's Jayney Shearman, there were 13 persons on the two helicopters (QAS). Four of them passed away, three were seriously hurt, while six only had minor wounds like scrapes from shattered glass.

She said that all of the injured had been brought to a hospital.

Photos from the scene show employees assembled on land, wreckage strewn on a strip of sand, and numerous vessels in the nearby waterways.

Worrell stated that although it is too soon to ascertain the precise cause of the accident, preliminary information indicates that the two helicopters collided as one was taking off and the other was landing.

Mitchell stated that investigators from the ATSB's Brisbane and Canberra offices will be sent to the scene to gather information, examine the wreckage, map the area, and speak with witnesses and other interested parties.

He requested that anyone who saw the crash or the helicopters in flight get in touch with the investigation. According to him, a preliminary report will be released in the following six to eight weeks, followed by a full report once the inquiry is over.
